Hahaha--I hardly think anyone in the 'verse of people who watch anime could
fault you, or anyone else. There are a lot of quality shojo anime which is very
mainstream, and even the more feminine have aspects that appeal to anyone, or
someone. If guys in Japan can stand and read comics printed by shojo serials in
bookstores (and it does happen) then why feel embarrassed? ^_^ Although, if the
strange looks of anime-outsiders in movie stores are still a bother, there's
always the online store, which often has cheaper prices too.
I have to be against uniforms in public schools. In fact, I'd be against them
for private schools too. I suppose I just don't see the point in regulating
someone's clothing that much. One of the great things about college, I feel, is
the fact that I can roll out of bed and go to class in my sushi pajamas without
anyone caring. Maybe I'm just stubborn, but I want to wear what I want to wear.
I don't want to be told that I have to wear some stiff collared shirt and a
pleated skirt by some 40year-olds on a school board. ESPECIALLY if girls HAVE to
wear skirts, and don't have the option of pants. While I personally have never
attended a school with uniforms, I have spent some time in Japan and tried my
host-sister's stuff on, and they were rather uncomfortable. It could be
different in other countries, other schools, but what is the point in wearing
something uncomfortable in the first place? If you have to wear something
uncomfortable, it should be your own self subjecting yourself to that, not a
third party.
I'm not a fashion queen or anything, but I rather enjoy being able to wear
clothes that I've found, bought, or made. It's just one of the little fun things
in life, and when you're in high school, every little fun thing is useful.
Uniforms won't stop bullying or teasing--people who bully and tease just get
more inventive and personal about it: they won't stop just due to a costume
change. And there is one more issue: school uniforms tend to be on the expensive
side. I don't want my parents to have to dole out a couple hundred bucks for
some suits I'll never wear after high school.
I think it would be really interesting--if they get the comic timing right.
Whether that will be easier or harder with live action, who knows, but it's one
of the things that made the Ouran anime so great.
Check out the Anime News Network (www.animenewsnetwork.com) they have a couple
news items on the subject: a second Appleseed movie was slated for Summer 2006,
and Mainichi states that there is a series under development as well, also for
Summer 2006...but apparently the movie was pushed back to next year, so I guess
the same would go for the series?
It depends on the homework. Worksheets, language homework, problem sets etc are
usually (to me) easier than research, essays, or serious reading. It is nice
some times to have a short break--say, one episode of anime, a short turn in a
computer game, a craft project, a conversation--between different types or
stages of homework. I'd say do work until you start getting tired, then take a
break and watch an episode, repeat.
I've been studying Japanese for a long time, but you can still learn new things
by listening carefully and watching subtitles--if you know enough about the
sentence structure to be able to pinpoint a word in a sentence then refering to
subs (if they're good ones) can teach quite a lot. However, the language used in
anime is often somewhat...extreme, shall we say? And I wouldn't go around Tokyo
using most of that vocab....
I would actually really like to see Witch Hunter Robin as a live action series.
I heard a rumor about the Sci Fi channel looking into it, but I have no idea...
When I think of "wish there was another season" I'm usually thinking
of anime based on manga, that had to stop before the manga was finished. Like
Fruits Basket, or Hikaru no Go especially. I really wish they'd have an OVA of
Hikago, 'cause I think it'd work really well, but while I would love to see more
Furuba, it wouldn't be the same if the same director didn't sign up for it, and
they did a wonderful job of leaving it tied pretty well at the end--it was just
soo good I want to see more.
I loved Morrowind, but have yet to find/be able to afford a computer that would
be able to run Oblivion without crashing or spontaneously combusting. I'd like
to hear what people who have played the game think--about the graphics,
gameplay, interface, character design, plot/storyline, is it worth the $50
etc--rather than getting everything from professional reviews.
I can't stand kids. At the same time, I think I would find it rather interesting
to attempt to share my own values and viewpoints with highly impressionable
young people--but I really hate little children. I can't make myself do the
googoo gaagaa thingy: I don't want to be around anything that is incapable of
intelligent conversation--meaning, in other words, that they are flexible and as
willing to listen and understand as to contribute. I don't think I could ever
have children. In addition to my personal feelings of distaste, the truth is
that there are far too many abandoned and orphaned children out there for me to
justify bringing more creatures into the world. I could see myself running a
foster home or adopting a pre-teen though.
As to marriage....I can't really see that happening anyway.
Only to the extent that I don't think I could seriously enjoy myself with
someone who isn't at all interested or who can't stand anime. Watching and
discussing anime and other watchables with friends is a fairly decent part of my
entertainment, a part which I'd rather not give up or cut down unless I have to.
If I loved the series, and it's liscenced--I buy it. I usually keep the files
for the series I buy on burned dvd too--it can be nice to have the backup, but
otherwise, I figure if it is not worth buying, then it's not worth keeping
either, and delete.
I used to watch him with my Dad alot--we went to see his movie the weekend it
came out. The fact that it was a STINGRAY is what kills me--people go swimming
with stingrays all the time--my Dad included. Deaths by stingray are so rare
that it almost seems proper in a twisted way...it wasn't a creature at which
critcs could say "I told you so" though I think in his line of work
the chance of him ever dying peacefull in his sleep was slim to none. If only it
had occurred fifty years later.
1. A present that recalled a previous conversation/inside joke: in this
particular case, it happened to be an Indiana Jones-style bull-whip, but it was
more the history behind the present that made it super-special.
2. Sadly, I happen to be a rather material person. I like to be given THINGS.
And STUFF. In particular, media such as DVDs, games, and books are a favorite. I
don't think I'd be able to accept something else I may want, such as a plane
ticket to somewhere, from anyone due to guilt over the cost.

^my WoW Troll Shaman, Firekeeper, who likes to keep her mace on fire.
I like to cook, and somebody has to eat it all (better if it's not me ^_~) so Goku.

Cat person I am. Dogs lack pride in comparison.

what about the longest song you've ever karaoked to? I haven't heard that many long songs, so my answer to both is Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
